Weddings at Tullyveery House

Photographers who know the walled garden and the courtyard

Tullyveery House is a family owned Georgian country house near Killyleagh in County Down, about half an hour from Belfast. It sits in mature private grounds with open countryside around it, and the venue takes one wedding a day, so the house, the gardens and the courtyard are all yours.

You can marry outdoors in the walled garden, which is where both of the weddings we have photographed here began, or choose one of the other ceremony spaces at the house. Afterwards the courtyard becomes the heart of the day, and the grounds give us plenty of variety for portraits.

We know how a day here flows, from the getting ready to the speeches outdoors and the first dance under the open sky, and we plan your timings around the light. Not sure Tullyveery is the one yet? Read our Tullyveery House venue guide for the advantages and disadvantages, have a look at our luxury wedding photographer page, and if you are choosing between venues around Downpatrick, see our Downpatrick wedding photographer page too.

One wedding a day, so the whole house and gardens are yours.

Photography at Tullyveery House

Every corner of Tullyveery, captured

Tullyveery House gives us a lot of variety in one place, from a walled garden and a courtyard to lawns, trees and a view over the lake. Here are the locations we use on your wedding day and why each one matters.

Location 01

The Walled Garden

The walled garden is where the ceremony takes place, and it is one of the prettiest outdoor ceremony spaces we have worked in. The old brick walls, the pergola and the planting give the vows a beautiful backdrop, and it is sheltered enough to feel intimate. Both couples we have photographed here married in the walled garden, one with a humanist celebrant.

Location 02

The Courtyard

The courtyard is the social heart of the day. Drinks, cutting the cake, speeches and the first dance have all happened here at the weddings we have photographed, and dancing outdoors always adds something extra. We have photographed guests holding sparklers to welcome a couple back for their first dance, which is a moment we will not forget.

Location 03

The Field with the Lake View

There is a field at Tullyveery with an outstanding view over the lake, and it is one of our favourite places for couple portraits. It is open, it is quiet and the light can be lovely late in the day. It is a short walk from the house, so you are never away from your guests for long.

Location 04

The Lawns, the House and the Trees

The Georgian front of the house and its lawns make a timeless backdrop, and the tree lined parts of the grounds give us soft, dappled light and welcome shade on a hot day. With one wedding a day, we can wander freely and use whichever corner of the grounds suits the moment, whether that is a quiet stroll or a few playful minutes on the swing.

Real weddings at Tullyveery House

See our work at Tullyveery

We have photographed weddings at Tullyveery House on a boiling hot August day and on a relaxed July day with the ceremony and reception both at the venue. Both began in the walled garden, and both ended with a first dance outdoors in the courtyard.

Each one is a full day, with the getting ready, the ceremony, the portraits around the grounds and the party in the evening, all edited in the same natural, true to life style. Click a photo to see the whole day.

Sun and shade

Louise and Lee married on one of the warmest days we have ever had at a wedding. We sought out shade around the grounds, and the courtyard kept everyone happy through the afternoon.

Outdoors all day

Speeches, drinks and the first dance have all taken place outdoors at weddings we have photographed here, so the photographs run from the walled garden through to the evening.

Everything in one place

Emily and Tom had their ceremony and reception at Tullyveery, with the girls staying the night before, so nobody had to travel and we had plenty of time for portraits.

What our couples say

Kind words from our couples

What couples say about having Tommy and Laurene photograph their wedding day.

Tommy & Laurene captured our wedding day beautifully. Everything was seamless from start to finish! We were keen to have a relaxed approach to our photos, capturing not just the main shots but also the finer details of the day. The results are amazing and exactly what we had in mind. Tommy & Laurene are easy going and great craic, they were a joy to work with. We’re so glad we chose Pure Photo N.I and would recommend them to anyone.

Mr. & Mrs. Lane

Cannot recommend Tommy and Laurene enough! From the very first point of contact they were amazing. They made us feel so comfortable the whole day and had plenty of laughs. The photos turned out unbelievably and they had them sent through to us so quickly. The album is beautiful, we have been married nearly a year now and we still can’t stop looking at it. They captured every special moment so perfectly.

Mr. & Mrs. Adair

Tommy and Laurene were great from start to finish. The prep info they discussed with us before the big day meant that everything was set up for them to just get on with taking photos in the background whilst the bridal party were getting ready. Tommy and Laurene then met us at the venue and were very flexible despite the day not running to plan timing wise. We love our photos so much. Thanks to you both x

Frequently asked questions

Your Tullyveery House wedding photography questions answered

The things couples ask us most about photography at Tullyveery House. If yours is not here, send us a message or have a look at our wedding FAQ.

Do you photograph weddings at Tullyveery House?

Yes. We have photographed weddings at Tullyveery House, including Louise and Lee and Emily and Tom, so we know the walled garden, the courtyard and the grounds well. Both of us come to every wedding, so you get two photographers for your whole day.

Where is Tullyveery House?

Tullyveery House is at 7 Ardigon Road, Killyleagh, Downpatrick, County Down BT30 9TA, about half an hour from Belfast. It is a family owned Georgian country house set in mature private grounds.

Where can we have our ceremony?

The walled garden is a popular choice and is where both of the weddings we have photographed here took place. The venue also has other ceremony spaces, indoors and outdoors, so ask the Tullyveery team what is available for your date and numbers.

Where are the best places for photos?

The walled garden, the courtyard, the lawns in front of the house, the tree lined parts of the grounds and the field with the view over the lake. With one wedding a day we can use whichever corner suits the light and the mood, and we plan your portraits around your timings.

Can we have speeches and dancing outdoors?

We have photographed speeches and a first dance outdoors in the courtyard at Tullyveery, and it makes for brilliant photographs. As always in Northern Ireland, have a plan for the weather and talk it through with the venue team.

What if it is a very hot or a rainy day?

On a very hot day we find shade among the trees and the courtyard walls and keep portraits short and comfortable. If it rains we work with the indoor spaces and the covered areas, and we have made lovely photographs on grey days at many venues. We will talk through a weather plan with you beforehand.

How much does a Tullyveery House wedding photographer cost?

Our collections start at £1,375 for half day coverage and go up to £2,675 for a full day with albums and an engagement session. Both of us photograph every wedding, and there is no extra travel charge for weddings within Northern Ireland. You can see exactly what is included on our pricing page.

Do you photograph at other venues nearby?

Yes. We have photographed at Old Court on Strangford Lough, the Mill at Ballydugan in Downpatrick and Millbrook Lodge in Ballynahinch, and we cover weddings all over Northern Ireland. See our Downpatrick wedding photographer page for more.

When will we get our photographs?

Your private online gallery is delivered within six weeks of your wedding, with high resolution downloads and a print shop. If you cannot wait, our fast edit add on guarantees your photos within 10 days for an extra £400.
