2021 Best Of | Wedding Photographer Northern Ireland
If you're looking for the best wedding photographer in Northern Ireland, we would love to be considered. We're Tommy and Laurene, a husband and wife team based in Lisburn, and in 2025 we were named Best Wedding Photography Team at the Northern Irish Enterprise Awards. We've been photographing weddings and elopements across Northern Ireland together since 2014, and we now have 91 five star reviews from couples on Google. If you're planning your wedding right now, you can see our current wedding photography packages or browse real weddings we've photographed for inspiration. Otherwise, here's a look back at some of our favourite moments from 2021.
2021 was another year that government restrictions played havoc with the wedding industry. For us it meant that we lost nearly half of the work we had booked in for the year due to postponements and cancellations related to the pandemic.
It would be completely wrong of us to say that 2021 was all bad news for us though, there was also a huge number of positives throughout the year. This year again, we managed to pick up a few awards and have our work published both online and in print. The best thing about 2021 though was the weddings that we were able to photograph.
All of the weddings we photographed were amazing in their own way. With everything that has happened people seem to be a lot more excited about being able to meet up with their family and friends again as you would expect. Every wedding we photographed had a huge buzz around it and was more intense in terms of emotions on the day. Our first wedding of the year took place at Belfast City Hall and we were back in Belfast shooting a wedding again for our last wedding of the year which took place at The Merchant Hotel.

We also eventually got to photograph a Larchfield Estate wedding, we were wondering if this was ever going to happen. When we first started photographing weddings, we had a list of venues that that we wanted to work at and Larchfield Estate was near the top of the list. It is a beautiful venue and is only just up the road from us as well. If it had not been for the pandemic, we would have already photographed a wedding here last year, we actually should have photographed 3 weddings there in the last year or so.
There was a few other new to us venues that we got to work in this year as well, which always excites us. One in particular that sticks out for us was being Breckenhill wedding photographer for the day. This venue has such a relaxed vibe and the owners are very friendly. After the wedding they also kindly added us to their list of recommended wedding photographers.
The icing on the top of the cake for us this year though has to be the amazing Dunluce Castle elopement we photographed. For us there isn’t a more beautiful place in the world, we love the North Coast and spend as much of our free time there as possible. For this elopement we also got to work at our favourite places Ballintoy Harbour and Dunseverick Castle. Our lovely couple on the day flew in all the way from Kuwait to get married there, which is no mean feat in itself in the middle of a global pandemic.

We have gotten lots of good feedback this year about some of the wedding advice on our blog both from couples and from other wedding vendors. We have a busy year ahead but will try, when possible, to add more content around this. We have been really surprised by how many times couples have said to us that the advice here really helped them with their wedding planning.
We are lucky in that we book a lot of our weddings because we have been recommended to new clients by couples whose weddings we have previously photographed and we love meeting them at weddings they have recommended us for, which has happened a lot in 2021. Your recommendations are always much appreciated guys, thank you!
It’s been a tough old year for every wedding vendor in Northern Ireland for obvious reasons not least of which was having nearly a years’ worth of weddings in only a few months once restrictions started to be lifted by the N.I Executive. This year more than any other has shown the value of what good wedding venues and suppliers provide. Hopefully 2022 will now bring a return to more normality that we all had hoped 2021 would bring.
There been some lovely moments to document over the last year and the images below are just a small selection of our favourites.
2022 LET’S GO!
We are bursting with excitement to start our 2022 wedding season. We can’t wait to get our 2022 couples in front of our cameras and we are really looking forward to visiting some more new venues and of course returning to some of our favourites.
We also can’t wait to catch up with our friends within the wedding industry. Here is hoping that 2022 is the year that we see a real return to normality for all of us!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
