2022 Best Of | Wedding Photographer Northern Ireland
2022 was at last the year that every Northern Ireland wedding photographer and wedding vendor has been waiting for! With a full return to real normality after a couple of difficult years for everyone involved in the wedding industry.
All of our rescheduled weddings from the last couple of years at last were able to go ahead without any issues. It was a huge relief to all of those couples that had to wait for so long to get down the aisle and say I do!
We started the year with a few smaller more intimate weddings with our first big wedding of the year taking place at the Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena and we finished the year with a trip to the quirky Wool Tower in Broughshane.

At the beginning of every new year, we always look through our diary for the new venues we are going to get to visit and we had a few of those this year. Of those we have two firm new favourites! The absolutely amazing Old Court Wedding company in Strangford and Tullyveery House, a beautiful wedding venue in Downpatrick. We can’t wait until the next time we get to visit both of these outstanding venues.
We also got to revisit some of our favourite Northern Ireland wedding venues from previous years, some of them on multiple occasions. We photographed a lot of weddings at Larchfield Estate in 2022, which is always a great place to work at. We also had weddings at some of our other favourites like Breckenhill, Galgorm and Orange Tree House. We have been to Larchfield Estate, Orange Tree House and Galgorm so much this year that we are now on first name terms with the staff.
One of our highlights from 2022 though was a wedding we photographed that didn’t take place at a wedding venue at all. We spent an incredible day with a couple whose wedding all took place in the bride’s mum and dad’s home in Millisle. On the day there was just us, the bride and groom, their Humanist celebrant, 5 guests and 6 very cute and cuddly dogs! Another was the amazing Helicopter ride we had at Ross and Sarah’s Mount Stewart wedding. Lots of couples chose to bring along their furry friends to share in their wedding day with them this year, which is always nice. Quite a few of our couples gave us some time for some beautiful evening portraits as well. We also documented a few first looks, which we always love.

While it’s normal as a wedding photographer to get excited about all the gorgeous places we are so lucky to visit as part of our job. What makes a truly great wedding for us is the people that are there on the day and the relationship we build with our couples. Our interactions with them are the thing that we remember later on down the line long after we have forgotten about all the amazing details from their wedding days. 2022 has given us lots of great fun memories not only from our time spent with our couples but also all the drunken and very fun bridesmaids and groomsmen (you know who you are), all the parents and of course all the grannies and granda’s as well.
2022 has been a ridiculously busy year for us and we know from chatting to our friends in the wedding industry that it’s been the same for a lot of them as well. Venue staff in particular seem to have been under huge pressure throughout the year, hopefully they all get a bit of down time at the start of the year before it all starts again in 2023.
Having spoken to lots of other videographers and photographers over the last year we know that quite a few have really struggled or have just been completely unable to stick to the normal timelines they put in place with their couples. While we won’t say it’s always been easy to meet our timelines, we have been able to do it, and we are proud that we have been able to provide our normal level of service during such a busy year. Because of this we have had to cut back on other things though like posting on social media (maybe not a bad thing) and creating new content for our wedding photography blog. We have also had next to no free time at all to do normal things, so we will be taking a bit of a break at the start of the new year so that we can come back refreshed and ready to go again for the start of the new wedding season.
Best Northern Ireland Wedding Photographers 2022
Over the course of the year, we were nominated for 3 different awards for Northern Ireland wedding photographer of the year 2022 and were lucky enough to be outright winners in 2 of them. Lots of our photographs have been featured in both wedding magazines and in online wedding blogs over the year as well. It’s always nice to get a bit of recognition.
We say this every year but it’s always true, we have a lot of people who we owe a thanks to for helping us throughout the year. Visibility on social media is a big thing for a small business like ours. Thanks so much to all those that interact with us on Instagram and Facebook etc. All those likes, shares and comments help push us higher up the algorithms so that more people will see our work and hopefully they will think of us when they need photographers.
We also say this every year as well, but it’s always true as well. We owe a huge amount of thanks to our couples who continue to support us by recommending us to their family and friends when they need a wedding photographer. There is no better feeling for us than when a couple gets in touch and books with us because of a recommendation from one of our previous couples. We photographed quite a few weddings this year where our previous couples were either part of the bridal party or were attending as guests. It was so good to see you all again!
We would have loved to have shown you of all our favourite photos from 2022, but if we did it would likely crash our website due to the sheer amount of them. So here is a random selection of some of our favourite moments from the past year.
Excited for our 2023 weddings!
We don’t have as many new places to visit in 2023 based on our current bookings for the year ahead, but we will be returning again to lots of our favourite wedding venues. To be fair there isn’t very many wedding venues in Northern Ireland that we haven’t already been to at this point. We also have a few more north coast elopements to photograph this year which we are really looking forward to as well.
We also know that lots of our favourite vendors will be working with us again in 2023 and we are looking forward to having more fun days alongside them and of course our super excited 2023 couples. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
