When we look back on 2025, we see more than just weddings. We see meaningful connections, personal growth, and countless heartfelt stories captured. From intimate city centre ceremonies to grand epic castle weddings, we were truly privileged to witness love expressed in many unique forms.
We want to take a moment to share how the year 2025 has influenced and shaped our approach to photography, how it has impacted the way we work, and what these changes mean for you. Whether you’re currently in the midst of planning your wedding or simply curious about our process, we believe understanding this evolution will give you valuable insight into our commitment to capturing your special day.
This year pushed us.
New challenges.
New joys.
New learning.
But above all else, more couples trusting us to tell their story.
We want to share how the year 2025 has shaped our work and influenced the way we approach photography, as well as what this means for you, whether you are currently planning your wedding or simply curious about our process and style.
What Changed in 2025
Diversity of wedding venues
In 2025 our wedding season became more diverse than ever. We covered both large celebrations and small intimate weddings. We shot in iconic venues across Northern Ireland, and also in unconventional locations, outdoors by cliff-sides, on family farms, in countryside barns and even in a beautiful untamed forest.
That variety stretched us, in the best way possible. We learned how to move more quickly, adapt to available light fast, adapt to different venue layouts, and respect flow without interrupting moments. We also welcomed more weekday and off-season bookings than before, which helped smooth our workflow.
Because we operate as a husband & wife team, we remained consistent in quality and style across all of our weddings and elopements, no matter the size. Our dual presence on a wedding day (two photographers) continued to pay off, capturing reactions from both sides, angles unnoticed, emotional quiet moments. That consistency kept couples confident when booking us.
We also deepened our reach beyond the venues we often work at. In 2025 we had our first ever weddings at Cultra Manor, Guildhall, Killeavy Castle, Glenpark Estate and Ballymagarvey Village. We love the excitement that comes along with working at a venue we haven’t worked at before and those venues were all fantastic. That expansion pushed us to refine logistics (travel, timing, light planning).
More couples than ever before seem to be opting for an engagement session which is great for us as it allows us to get to know the couples better and what they look like in front of the camera. It also lets the couples see how we work and get a better idea of what to expect on their wedding day. We also had the wonderful opportunity to photograph some wedding proposals, which was incredibly exciting and truly special to be a part of.
Refined style, editing & gear upgrades
Over 2025 we made key tweaks in our style. We leaned harder into natural light, subtle tones, less posed direction. We refined our editing further so our images feel cohesive but still timeless and still consistent with our normal style.
To support that, we updated our gear. We added new cameras and lenses but then again we do that pretty much every year. We upgraded our backup systems to ensure safety and redundancy and spent an absolute fortune on new computers. We tested new lighting tools (portable reflectors, small LED panels, new flash and triggers) for tricky evening or indoor spots.
But tools alone don’t make the image. We pushed ourselves to observe more, tell emotional arcs rather than just pretty frames. We stayed light on our feet, looked for candid interplay, and let the day lead us. That discipline improved our consistency across all of our weddings and elopements.
Awards, features, and recognition
2025 brought external recognition that as always humbled us. It is always nice to pick up some awards and be recognised for the work we put in. That didn’t change who we are, but it reaffirmed that our couples trust us and feedback matters.
We had some weddings featured both online and in print. Several of our couples stories reached wider audiences, which brought more enquiries, not because we advertised heavily, but because people resonated with real connection.
We also saw more 5-star reviews on Google and other local listings. For example, clients praised us for being “absolutely fantastic throughout the day”, and said that we were, ”lovely, genuine people with a wealth of knowledge in the industry”. That feedback reminds us, quality, kindness, presence, these build reputation far more than hype.
Favourite Moments & Stories
Intimate elopements
Elopements were a particular joy in 2025. Couples who skipped large weddings let us focus entirely on emotion and atmosphere. We photographed vows with only parents or witnesses, under woodland archways, at the edge of cliffs, and in quiet gardens.
In those moments, everything slows. We could spend longer with couples, be more observant, and capture micro-moments, a tear, a quiet laugh, fingers brushing. One elopement at Dunluce Castle stands out with beautiful dramatic skies, waves, soft light and an amazing group of people to share it all with.
These weddings remind us why after nearly 12 years, we still love being wedding photographers. They’re raw and personal. They free us to photograph what matters. They also build trust, couples who elope often refer friends, telling them they felt entirely themselves with us.
Big celebrations & high energy weddings
On the flip side, 2025 also had its share of big, vibrant weddings. Lively dance floors, live bands, sparkler exits, multi-cultural ceremonies. We loved those days because they brought color, movement and emotion.
During larger weddings we leaned into our two-photographer dynamic as always. While one captured ceremony the other circled the crowd, captured candid exchanges, reactions, kids laughing. We balanced portrait time with documentary style storytelling.
One wedding at a grand estate had shifting light over gardens, indoor banquet halls, and outdoor terrace moments. We planned light transitions, watched shadows, anticipated movements. The result, full stories from preparations to the dancing.
These weddings test stamina and pacing. They taught us when to step back, when to push forward. They reaffirmed that in chaos, presence matters most.
Unexpected moments (weather, surprises)
2025 also gave surprises. Rain came mid-ceremony at a cliffside elopement. The rain as you would expect made several other appearances as well, but over the year the weather was pretty kind to us this year. A surprise speech turned into emotional tears unexpectedly. Kids at wedding as always, often did the unexpected and it was hilarious!
In each case, we had to pivot. We carried umbrellas, lighting equipment, and always looked for alternate angles. When rain blurred the scene, we sought shelter before letting the rain be part of the story.
These moments always remind us we don’t control everything. We control readiness, attitude, and how we see beauty in imperfection. Couples told us those images, the rain, the laughter, the hush became favourites.
What We Learned & Improvements
Better client experience & workflows
We streamlined communications in 2025. From enquiry to delivery, we added clearer milestone emails (venue logistics, shooting timeline etc.). We refined our questionnaire so we understand couple’s priorities (which moments matter most). We improved internal checklists (backup, gear prep, lighting plans) so nothing is forgotten.
Feedback told us some couples felt anxious about timelines. So we started sharing even more “what to expect on your wedding day” type blog posts. We also gave gentle prompts (e.g. “let’s plan a buffer before first look”) to reduce stress.
During editing, we prioritised speed without sacrificing quality. We set internal deadlines so couples wouldn’t wait too long. New editing tools helped us deliver images quicker than ever before.
Balance, rest, creative recharge
We were careful in planning for 2025 by ensuring that we didn’t take on more than we could deal with. We learned the value of rest weeks with no weddings and no editing to reset. We blocked off time for creative projects (shooting just for ourselves) to stay inspired.
Those breaks paid off. We returned with fresh eyes and sharper editing. That allowed us to became more present on wedding days and ensure we were not overextending ourselves.
Feedback & adaptation
We listened. When couples said they wanted more candid storytelling, we adapted further. When some asked for album formats with more personalisation or wall art options, we began exploring those. We adjusted service options offering more bespoke package options and refined our micro-wedding packages.
We also networked more with other wedding vendors to understand their pace and coordinate better. Those relationships made days smoother and elevated results.

Looking Ahead to 2026
New services, album lines, formats
We plan to introduce a new luxury album line (thicker covers, flush mounts, larger sizes). We will also offer more wall art and print options than ever before. We are also going to be officially launch a new wedding proposal photography service in 2026 and continue to adjust what is included across all our photography options to fit with what couples want.
Venue wishes & bucket list weddings
We have some amazing weddings already lined up for 2026 that we can’t wait to photograph. Some of those are at venues we have not worked at before that we can’t wait to visit.
We still have a couple of venues we would like to check of our bucket list, we would love to tick those of in 2026. We also hope for more multicultural weddings, with diverse traditions and energy.
Wedding trends we would like to see
For the last couple of years weddings have been very much about the big party and off course we love a big party. At the same time, we would love to see a return to more intimate moments being shared between the bride and groom, with a deeper focus on genuine romance and heartfelt connection. We would also like to be involved in more diverse weddings and more weddings in non traditional venues.
Our hopes for couples
We hope that couples look back at their images and feel the emotions again. We hope our work becomes heirlooms in their families. We hope to make the experience smooth, joyful, and authentic. We hope to meet more couples who trust us fully.
